Summer
Playground Program
This is the city’s premier program that runs through the
Fitchburg Recreation department. This program is open to all
children under the age of 18 years old; but individuals under
the age of six (6) must be accompanied by an adult/guardian
at all times on the playground. * Special Education students
are welcome with supervision* The
program runs Monday through Friday starting July 9th through
August 17th! The hours for the program are 9:30 am -2:30 pm.
NOTE: This is the a different starting date from previous
years. If it rains, the program will not run for that specific
day. (Check with Rec. Dept.)
Lunch
is provided free of charge through the Department of Education
along with Project Bread but the children must be at the playgrounds
by 10:00 am to sign up for a lunch. The lunches are nutritious
with all of the food groups being served each day.

Q: What activities go on at the playground program?
A: Each playground is asked to plan a daily sporting activity,
such as kickball or capture the flag, and a daily craft
activity to provide a wide variety for the children.
Q:
Do parents need to provide anything for the kids?
A: Throughout the summer, the playground instructors might
ask each child to bring in a specific object from home to
use in the crafts or games. Most of the supplies are provided
through the Recreation Department.
Q:
How many playground instructors are there for each playground?
A: There are at least two playground instructors, certified
in First Aid and CPR at each playground. The larger playgrounds
will have three instructors.
Q:
How do I sign my child up for the program?
A: Since this is a FREE program, we do not require that you
pre-enroll your children. The program starts on June 27th.
Q:
Is this a babysitting program?
A: No. The playground instructors are not a babysitting service.
They will be at the playgrounds from 9:30 am – 2:30
pm. They also have the ability to ask problem children to
leave because they are disrupting the group.

What is the cost for the playground program and lunch?
A: One word, FREE!!

North St., Next to FSC Recreation Center.
GOODRICH PLAYGROUND—
Boutelle St., Next to Goodrich Kindergarten and St. Bernard’s
Cemetery.
